On Tuesday February 27, 2007 at 12:16hrs Sussex EOC alerted Station 71,and Medic 102 for a High Angle Rescue at the Perdue Agri-Recyle Plant. The incident took place as a result of a company hired to pressure wash the roof and when trying to reach the next level he became tangled in his own rope and was not able to go up or down. 71 Command responded with Deputy Chief Dave Ruff and on arrival found a man hanging from the top of the building and requsted for Station 81 to be alerted for a truck company assist. Upon arrival of Ladder 81 they were advised to set up in front of the structure and attempt to reach the man. The first attempt was not successful and they were about 6 feet to short. 71 Command then requested for Salisbury high angle rescue team and a Ladder from Station 42 Milford. Ladder 81 after repositioning made another attempt and was able to reach the man and remove him from the side of the structure a full 100' foot off the ground and spider man was placed safely on the ground with assistance from Ladder 81 with nothing hurt other than his pride. All other incoming units were cancelled and the situation was placed under control around 13:00 Hours and all units cleared. Units responded ( 71 Command, B-71, Rescue 71, Engine 71-5, Medic 102, Ladder 81, Salisbury High Angle Team, and Ladder 42 ). Special Thanks to all that assisted.
